LENTILS DISH 2 - VEN PONGAL / BREAKFAST RECIPE




Ven pongal a popular breakfast recipe in tamilnadu.It is very easy to prepare and tastes too good if we do it in a correct way.At first time I cooked this recipe along with my friends, when we were staying together it was good in taste but not so perfect, this I came to know when I had a ven pongal in sangeetha restaurant in my office cafeteria. After my marriage few times I prepared this recipe few but every-time in different method, I felt something is missing ever time.After coming here to sweden I read so many blogs on this recipe and finally I got a comment from Sri saying "hey, do you remember how you prepared this recipe in earlier times, it is too good now, I can see a great improvement in your pongal" Whoa!! What else I need, so happy now :).Ven Pongal goes well with sambar and Medhu vadai. 

Mostly I prepare this on weekends, when we both wake up late this is one of my perfect choice. There is just a two steps for this recipe, pressure cook rice and dhal, temper it with the ingredients mentioned below. Easy to make and yummy to taste... :)

In this recipe I have used Moong dhal, So I am adding this in Lentils recipe dish.

QUICK SANDWICH / VEGETABLE SANDWICH/ HEALTHY BREAKFAST

In this fast world, everybody wants to finish their tasks quickly and to carry on with other task. In a family if both husband and wife is working then it is very difficult to prepare variety of dishes, why to go for variety we may feel difficult to prepare just a simple breakfast, It happened in my family too. Not always but sometimes we both use to get up late, no time to prepare breakfast and so we have breakfast and lunch in hotels/cafeteria. (There are some people who use to skip their breakfast because of no time)

In those days no one is there for me to tell some tricks / tips to follow to avoid visiting hotels at least for breakfast.

MASALA KOZHUKATTAI

    Vinayagar Chathurthi, the first thing which comes to our mind is Kozhukattai :). Lord Ganesha's Favorite dish, not only for him Kozhukattai is most of our favorite dish.You may think, this is not Ganesha festival season then why she is talking about Kozhukattai.Yes, In many homes they prepare Kozhukattai only on Vinayagar Chathurthi day.But my mom prepares Kaara (Spicy) Kozhukattai as breakfast recipe on normal days and serves it with coconut chutney,it tastes very good.

    I added few more ingredients with Kara(spicy) Kozhukattai recipe and prepared Masala Kozhukattai, the aroma, flavor and taste was too good.We had this Kozhukattai as tea time snack So I didn't prepare any chutney. But you can have this for breakfast along with coconut chutney.
