QUICK SANDWICH / VEGETABLE SANDWICH/ HEALTHY BREAKFAST

In this fast world, everybody wants to finish their tasks quickly and to carry on with other task. In a family if both husband and wife is working then it is very difficult to prepare variety of dishes, why to go for variety we may feel difficult to prepare just a simple breakfast, It happened in my family too. Not always but sometimes we both use to get up late, no time to prepare breakfast and so we have breakfast and lunch in hotels/cafeteria. (There are some people who use to skip their breakfast because of no time)

In those days no one is there for me to tell some tricks / tips to follow to avoid visiting hotels at least for breakfast.

LENTILS DISH 1 - GREEN GRAM CURRY / MUNG DHAL

Have you ever thought of preparing curry with Green gram ( Mung Dhal)? This curry can be used as side dish with Steamed rice, Chappathi and Dosa. It has many nutritional values you can see it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mung_bean also it is very easy to prepare. If no vegetables in your home lentils are your excellent choice to prepare some dish.

From some article I read that consuming a cup of cooked lentils everyday in your meal provides plenty of health benefits. I am not able to add lentils in everyday meal but I try to prepare dishes which contains lentils 4 to 5 days per week.( A single serving (1 cup of cooked lentils) provides 90 percent of the recommended daily amount of folate, 22 percent of thiamin and 18 percent of vitamin B6, making lentils an excellent source of B vitamins.http://experiencelife.com/article/luscious-lentils/).

CARROT HALWA / GAJAR HALWA / DESSERT

Carrot Halwa is a traditional Punjabi dish. I don't know why but my mom never made this is in home, so i tasted this in buffets along with Ice cream and it tastes awesome. I liked it very much but I never thought of preparing it in home. Here in Sweden they are selling large amount of root vegetables ( like beet root, potato, carrots, turnip) and frequently they are giving offers on these vegetables but a single pack contains 2 Kg to 5 Kg of vegetables not less than that. Now you can guess why most of my posted recipes are related to carrot :). Yes I always have more than a Kg of carrots in my kitchen, I thought of finishing it soon and so comes the delicious recipe Carrot Halwa, I prepared this for the first time along with my neighbors and we had it hot hot during day time chit chat. ( I know it is very hot summer in India, but here in Sweden it is just a 3 degree) Yeah of course DH surprised to see a new recipe when he is back from office ;)

Here comes the recipe,

Usually we prepare Idli Uppma with left over idli's, so for a change I tried this recipe and it came out very well. Kara Podi Idli can be prepared with very limited Ingredients. Best snack for evening hunger I hope. Mouthwatering when I think of  picking each Idli with fork & munching it accompanying with hot tea or coffee while watching TV. Try it in your kitchen and provide me a feedback :)

Here in my recipe I used Yeast and Curd to prepare Naan , Yeast can be replaced with Baking powder and Curd can be replaced with Egg.

BREAD HALWA / WHEAT BREAD HALWA / INDIAN DESSERT

Sweets/Desserts who says NO to this? It plays a vital role in Indian Cuisine. There are many sweet dishes available in Indian Cuisine. CHICKPEAS / SUNDAL KUZHAMBU

My DH's favorite recipe, I need to cook some extra rice than usual when I prepare this Chickpeas/Sundal Kuzhambu and that is what finally a wife is looking for. agree?  I learnt this recipe from my mom.
One important thing we need to keep in mind is, this recipe cannot be prepared instantly. Chickpeas/Sundal should be soaked atleast 6 - 8 hours before, so we need to decide one day before. It suits well with Steamed Rice, Chapati, Dosa & Idli.

MASALA KOZHUKATTAI

Vinayagar Chathurthi, the first thing which comes to our mind is Kozhukattai :). Lord Ganesha's Favorite dish, not only for him Kozhukattai is most of our favorite dish. You may think, this is not Ganesha festival season then why she is talking about Kozhukattai.Yes, In many homes they prepare Kozhukattai only on Vinayagar Chathurthi day.But my mom prepares Kaara (Spicy) Kozhukattai as breakfast recipe on normal days and serves it with coconut chutney,it tastes very good.

I added few more ingredients with Kara(spicy) Kozhukattai recipe and prepared Masala Kozhukattai, the aroma, flavor and taste was too good.We had this Kozhukattai as tea time snack So I didn't prepare any chutney. But you can have this for breakfast along with coconut chutney.

Carrot is all time favorite vegetable for many of us. Few years ago when I was in Chennai, I went to Andhra mess along with my friends. I searched in many websites to know the recipe of this fry but I didn't find it. I tried to replicate it by myself, At first try it didn't come as expected :( and so tried it once again by adding few more ingredients & It came out very well :)

CHICKEN KUZHAMBU - MY MOM'S STYLE

Hi all,

This is my first post ever. I thought of starting with any sweet  recipe but I came up with my Mom's special as my first recipe. Please provide your valuable Comments and Feedback the dish.

I prepared Chicken Kuzhambu and Chicken Varuval as Sunday special . For past few weeks I was preparing Briyani or Fish curry for Sunday special. But this week suddenly I started to feel like eating chicken dishes which my mom use to prepare and got the memories of my school days where every weekend my mom prepares non-vegetarian dishes and I was eagerly waiting to taste that :) How many ever restaurants we go and have different dishes it cannot compete with our mom's preparation.

For breakfast itself I prepared Kuzhambu and it came out very well :). My husband was saying that the kuzhambu smell is very good and it is making him hungry and he started to peek his face inside the kitchen before the cooking is done.

So here comes the recipe of Chicken Kuzhambu
